Why Mondelez Benelux Transitioned to EasyPicky & How It Unlocked Faster, Smarter Store Execution

Mondelez Benelux x EasyPicky

In the highly competitive FMCG environment, retail execution is decisive in driving performance in store. For Mondelez Benelux, the challenge wasn’t starting from scratch but replacing their current tool with a more efficient one. They wanted a solution able to meet their expectations around speed, accuracy, and usability, but also a more advanced way of exploiting data.

The answer came with the implementation of EasyPicky.

No Fear, No Extra Cost: An Upgraded Solution Without Starting Over

For many companies, switching tools raises a familiar concern: will we have to rebuild everything from scratch? For Mondelez Benelux, the transition to EasyPicky proved the opposite. Instead of discarding years of work, the project capitalized on it. Existing product data, hierarchies, and workflows became the foundation for a more advanced, more agile solution.

EasyPicky didn’t require a reset; it elevated what was already in place. The migration reused and enriched the current setup, adding capabilities such as video recognition and full offline functionality without generating additional complexity. This continuity made the change far less disruptive for teams and accelerated adoption across the organization.

“The former solution was a really good thing, which we implemented in 2013. I think EasyPicky is the way to go to deliver the dream and the data vision I have for 2030.”

The upgrade was undeniable: a smoother experience for users, higher accuracy from day one, deeper data capabilities, and immediate operational impact in stores. Mondelez Benelux didn’t reinvent their retail execution process; they strengthened it with a tool designed to go further, faster.

Film, Detect, Act: Turning Shelf Audit into Store Actions

The initial Mondelez business case focused heavily on improving efficiency for the salesforce team. Store visits are time-sensitive, and reducing the time spent collecting shelf data can make a significant difference in the productivity of field teams.

EasyPicky introduced a different approach to data capture through video recognition. Instead of relying on more manual processes or a picture-based solution, sales reps simply film the shelf, allowing the solution to analyze the products automatically and instantly. On top of that, the app was designed to work offline, so data can be captured anywhere in the store without connectivity issues.

That was a big win for Mondelez Benelux, since the previous system required an internet connection, which frequently caused friction during store visits. Sales reps occasionally had to leave the store to get a connection and retrieve data before returning to continue their work.

With EasyPicky, everything happens directly in the store, which has significantly simplified the process and improved the overall experience for field teams. The impact on efficiency was quickly noticeable.

“We can win between 20 to 40 minutes thanks to the fact that we can work offline and filming is much easier.”

Adoption in 30 Minutes: An App Teams Actually Use

Ease of use was another key factor in the change of solution and its successful rollout. Even the most advanced tools will struggle to deliver value if they are difficult for field teams to adopt.

In this case, the simplicity of the application made adoption remarkably smooth. Because the process relies on video capture — something people already do every day with their smartphones — the learning curve is minimal. Training new users turned out to be extremely fast.

“In half an hour you can teach users how to work with the app.”

The team started with a pilot involving 5 field promoters, who tested the application on the biscuits category before expanding further. The feedback from the field was immediately positive.

The simplicity of the tool helped ensure quick adoption in the field, allowing teams to focus on execution rather than learning complex workflows.

From Data to Action: Improving on-site performance instantly

For the Mondelez Benelux team, the real value of retail execution technology lies in what teams can do with the data directly in-store. Perfect execution is a top priority, and having clear, structured insights during a store visit allows field teams to react immediately.

With EasyPicky, sales representatives are given recommended actions to take based on the store data they just collected. Instead of simply recording the problem, they can correct it on the spot, ensuring shelves are optimized before leaving the store.

For example, if a product is missing from the shelf, the app can suggest checking the store inventory or placing an order, enabling the representative to quickly restore availability and avoid lost sales.

That was a key driver behind the change at Mondelez Benelux: empowering field teams to not only gather information but also act on it. The speed and efficiency of data collection have also made it possible to monitor stores much more frequently.

“We're now able to do all this once a month instead of twice a year.”

This increased visibility with reliable and up-to-date data helps the team maintain stronger execution standards across the market.

From Field to HQ: How Qualitative Insights Elevated the Entire Organization

Beyond the field teams, the data collected through EasyPicky also brings significant value to headquarters. The information captured in stores is instantly integrated into the company’s data platform, where it is used to generate dashboards for multiple stakeholders.

“We're using the data to create dashboards and insights for the category managers, for key account managers, and for management.”

Reliable shelf data enables these teams to better understand what is happening in stores and identify both opportunities and challenges across stores, regions, and countries. With trusted data readily available, teams spend less time gathering information across platforms and stores and more time focusing on strategic actions that can drive revenue and improve performance.

The high level of accuracy provided by the solution plays an important role in building that trust. It’s an improvement from their last solution and one of the highest rates of recognition in the market.

“The recognition accuracy today is around 98–99%, which is amazing.”
